There are still more 10-Ks coming in, but we have a pretty good picture now of the financial space. Our first chart is the total loan portfolios for the big banks, and how they changed year over year. The first thing that jumps out is just how big Wells Fargo, Bank of America, and JP Morgan are, even compared to the other big banks. Also, 4 out of 5 reported an increase in lending.

Now looking at the loan loss reserve…all but one are down, and some down dramatically. Bank stocks have had pretty large gains this year, and this metric is probably as responsible for that as any.
