In preparation for the BIG game Sunday, we decided to take a peek at Super Bowl advertising and what percentage of the SG&A budget the adds represented from various industries.  What we found surprised us a little.  If you take SG&A line items from some of the larger firms known to advertise in the Super Bowl and extrapolate using last years advertising time (as a proxy for this year) and this year’s estimated cost for a 30 second spot (some $3.5 million), you find that the motion picture industry uses a significant portion of their quarterly ad spend this weekend, some 15%.  The rest of the companies / industries, not so much.  So when you hear folks talk about the spend, remember, the money comes from DEEP pockets!  Enjoy the game!!
